This guide is far from perfect, and honestly, neither is this video. I’m still figuring things out—how to film, how to edit, how to talk on camera without feeling totally awkward. But I believe that taking action, even when it’s messy, is the only way to grow.

So here it is—my step-by-step plan for creating a picture book. If you’ve ever wanted to make your own, I hope this gives you the motivation to start, even if you feel unsure.

When I started planning this picture book journey, I was full of ambition. I mapped out how I’d tackle each step, from setting up my website and YouTube channel to actually making progress on the book itself. But reality hit—hard. Everything took way longer than I expected, and now I’m already behind…

I launched my Instagram, posted my first video, and started working on the second one. And then—three weeks passed. Just like that. So… what happened?
I want to do my very best. I don’t want to put out anything less than I’m capable of, but is that really reasonable?
Today, I made a promise to myself: no matter what, I’m publishing that video by the end of the week. No more overthinking. No more waiting until it’s perfect. Honestly—who’s even watching right now? Some days, it feels like I’m talking into the void. I get lost in self-doubt, feel stuck, and wonder if I’m even on the right path. It’s been a rollercoaster of lows and discomfort.
But I’m going to do it anyway. Even if I’m not completely proud of the end result, a step is still a step—even if I stumble along the way.
I wanted to share this little ramble with you to be real about the struggle. If you’re in the same boat, just know—you’re definitely not alone.

I’m Savane, an illustrator and animator who’s also a busy mum to a lively 2-year-old toddler. Between chasing after my little one and working hours here and there, I realized I’ve been neglecting my own creative side for far too long. It’s time to change that!

As a mum, I sometimes feel lonely, overwhelmed with tasks, and longing to reclaim a bit of individuality. It’s a feeling I think only mums can truly understand—balancing so much while still wanting to hold on to a piece of yourself. That’s what this channel will be about: carving out a space for creativity and self-expression, no matter how small.

I want to start creating again—bit by bit, one tiny step at a time. While I’ve spent years illustrating for others, I’ve never had the chance to bring my own book ideas to life. But now that I’m a mum, I’m full with stories and ideas, and I’ve decided: why not go for it?

With my time stretched thin, I’ll be calling on every helper I can find—including AI tools—to make the process faster and smoother. My goal? Dedicate just one hour a day to turn this dream into reality.
